A successful day of cultural exchange.
This morning I went to the Health Post to help prepare a breakfast of guess what, potatoes and rice, for the senior citizens in the community and celebrate ´´el dia del adulto mayor´´.
This afternoon the was the grand dance commpetition and the climax of the weekend´s festival in celebration of the anneversary of my town. I performed a traditional dance called huaino with the women farmers club and we won 3rd place.
I have discovered that becoming the Yes Women is getting me every where. ´´Do you want to hike 2 hours to the fields with me?´´- yes ´´Do you want to watch me train a young crazy bull?´´- yes ´´ Do you want to dress up in traditional clothing and skip around in circles with us in a dance competition that everyone int town will watch?´´-yes!
and most of all, when you receive the honor of elderly women in town offering fermented thick white corn drink´´chicha´´ that tastes like barf -yes! you drink it all up and give great thanks for her offer.
