Yesterday I travelled to the City of Arequipa to say goodbye to a fellow volunteer that is closing his service and enjoy the luxuries of a hot meal and hot shower. About 100km on a raven's wings but about double that via winding mountain road the group of us from the canyon arrived late, ate, drank, and chatted into the morning hours. Today we had a bar-b-que for the volunteer that will be departing which (of course, in a house full of volunteers) turned into a meeting with an international NGO that is looking for help getting internet access into the canyon.
Tonight and tomorrow we run errands to find things we can't get ahold of in the canyon: aka post office and more groceries.
Tomorrow I get to talk to my family!! :-)
I told another Peace Corps volunteer that this guy Terry Jones threatened to burn a Kuran and a fellow volunteer thought that was so ridiculous that it couldn't possibly be true. ha!
