There is a scene in the movie Everything is Illuminated where the Ukrain-visiting-American askes for a dinner without meat. It is one of the more comical scenes in the film when the American is served a plate with a solitary boiled potato rolling side to side as the server lays the impromptu dinner at the American's place. While watching this move I nearly cried I was laughing so hard thinking of the many times I have been served potato here in rural Peru, and I am not a vegetarian anymore! Potatoes floating in the top of chicken broth, boiled potato with potato purre poured over the top, or my personal favorite, just a boiled potato-eaten like an apple: skin and all.
