Upon returning from Quillabamba we visited Mario and helped out a little with his vacaciones utiles (summer camp) for kids in Sibayo.
Mario's host family raises cattle and farms alpacas and sheep.
Mario and I couldn't really figure out why I was always complaining about the inefficiency of the workers in Madrigal and the lack of flavors in their sickness-infested-food while Mario thought the people of the canyon were pretty efficient and didn't eat food that tasted that badly at all. Now we get it.
Being there for only two days we learned that Madrigaleñans are VERY inefficient and silly in their methods as Mario's family taught us how they use their resources to the fullest. And I could actually eat the food they served. They even used some spices when cooking their potatoes and chicken and did not cook over and open fire of dried cow poop.
It was nice to be on an efficient, profit producing, Peruvian farm...
